My mission is for all my students to enjoy, understand, and play music independently for the rest of their lives. I foster creative and versatile musicians by focusing on excellent piano technique, reading skills, and music fundamentals. These are the tools that enable students to express their musical intentions and follow any musical path they choose.

Individual Piano Lessons

31 weekly lessons, 3 Group Studio Classes, 1 Recital

Piano lessons feature a holistic, "mostly classical" curriculum. We begin with method books and generously supplement with songs and activities based on the student's interests. Piano lessons also include technique exercises, music theory, and ear-training. Students attend 31 weekly lessons from September to May, gather for an informal studio class 3 times per year, and participate in a studio recital in the spring. Regular at-home practice is essential and expected.

Students may also participate in a wide range of additional performance opportunities, such as the Certificate of Merit exams, Associated Board of the Royal School of Music Exams, and community events.

Interested families may sign up for a free interview + mini-lesson.

Piano Partners & Small Groups

Take piano lessons with a friend! Piano Partners & Small Groups (up to 3 people) is a hybrid of traditional private piano lessons and a group piano class. Two students learn side by side as well as in rotating stations. It's perfect for socially motivated students or two friends who want to have fun and learn music together. Here's how Piano Partners incorporates the best of both worlds:

Like a private lesson:

Like a group class:

  • Reading & technique
  • Learning new repertoire
  • An assignment to practice at home
  • Individualized attention
  • Strong rhythmic development
  • Musicality through ensemble playing
  • Theory games and more "off-the-bench" activities

12-week sessions, 50 minutes, 4 students per class

Young beginners ages 5-7 often get more musical benefits (and have more fun!) in a lively small group setting. In First Year Piano Class, we PLAY — both songs and games — with the building blocks of music. Students learn basic rhythmic values, music symbols, and notation. With a focus on piano fundamentals and engaging pieces, we begin to play in ensemble. We improvise with musical patterns and compose with our new note-writing skills. Sessions are 12 weeks at a time, with the option to continue for a second session.

After First Year Piano, students are poised for success as they continue with Individual Lessons or Piano Partners.

Families have the option of meeting me in advance for a brief mini-lesson, or may sign up directly.
